Himachal CM tells IPH dept to restore water supply from Ashwani Khad

After almost three months after a massive jaundice outbreak in Shimla, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh Thursday ordered the Irrigation and Public Health (IPH) department to restore drinking water supply from Ashwani Khad . Earlier, the Shimla Municipal Corporation had declined water supply from Ashwani Khad in December 2015, after the outbreak of jaundice in town. A committee led by Mayor Sanjay Chauhan had detected that it was the contamination of leakage from the Sewage Treatment Plant at nearby Malyana in the drinking water of Ashwani Khad that had resulted in the outbreak of jaundice in the suburbs.
