Himachal Assembly: More relief for MLAs, Bill passed allowing them to park on Mall Road

WITH THE Himachal Pradesh High Court having banned the parking and movement of vehicles on the road between Shimla Club and the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, the state Assembly on Thursday re-introduced and passed the Shimla Road Users and Pedestrians (public Safety and convenience ) bill, which will now allow legislators to park their vehicles on the Mall Road, near Metropole MLAs hostel, which falls on the banned stretch. It was introduced in the House by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, who had earlier assured the MLAs relief in this regard. Thanking the chief minister for the move, the BJP MLA Suresh Bhardwaj said by bringing in the legislation, Virbhadra had restored “the dignity and honour of the MLAs”, who were facing problems in parking their vehicles.
