Ensure air connectivity for small destinations : SC to CentreThe Supreme Court Thursday asked the government to ensure air connectivity also for small places which are usually left out because the airlines find them commercially less profitable or not viable. Under the government’s Route Dispersal Guidelines, Category-I routes are the busy routes connecting major metros like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai, while Category-II are those in remote and difficult parts of the country, including Jammu and Kashmir, Northeast and the island territories. The court said it while hearing a petition relating to providing air connectivity to Shimla.
